Busy first day

We  packed a lot into our first day and now we are exhausted.
After the fish pedicure and tuk tuk ride we walked around a lot trying to find a decent nail shop to get our finger and toenails painted. We left one shop because I couldn't sit in the chair and put my feet in the bowl without having to be somewhat double jointed, the city isn't built for tall women sometimes. If we were looking for a massage shop, we wouldn't have had any problems. See pics below, all within 100 yards.

This evening we went to a wonderful dinner at Lord Jim's at the Mandarin Oriental with Bill! Pics are below, the food was delicious, service outstanding and the views outside along the river and in the lobby were great.

Heading to bed now, lots planned for tomorrow.

Tuk-tuk ride

One of my favorite things as a kid was when we got to ride in a tuk tuk, normally if all 4 of us were going somewhere we would have to take 2, but if it was Michael, my mom and me we could squeeze in one. Today we took a tuk-tuk ride. The driver had to "stop for petrol" on the way to our destination, which meant we had a 15 minute excursion to a jewelry store run by the Thai Government. Definitely a tourist trap, and I fell for it and bought a few jade items, the driver was happy, I'm sure he gets a cut of all sales there.
We held on to our bags so no motorcyclists could snatch them and Jojo's side had netting so she couldn't fall out.

Fish Pedicure

We found a fish pedicure! It was $4 for a 15 minute fish pedicure. We sat on a wooden bench across from eachother, the man working the stand told us the fish were very hungry.  Our feet are now very soft!
The man working the stand was very young and very nice. Greeted us with a smile etc., which was weird, considering what t-shirt he was wearing(pictured below) I'm sure he had no clue what it meant.

We made it!

M
After about 30 hours of travel, we made it to Bangkok at 1030pm on Monday night, or 1030 am Monday morning in Kansas.
We cleared customs with no issues, our luggage made it and Bill was there to pick us up and take us to our hotel.
We are now up, fed, clean and rested and ready to hit the streets for a day of exploring in Bangkok! So excited!!
Here's the view from our 18th floor!
More pics and posts to come!

In Flight to Tokyo

We have officially left the U.S. And are currently somewhere over the North Pole. The wifi and entertainment system is not working on the flight, but we do have nice private pods in first class, so that is making this very long flight much more bearable.
We haven't had much time to think about missing movies or entertainment, the food choices just keep coming! First, an appetizer of raw tuna, then a salad, bread and soup, then the entree (looks bare due to allergy restrictions, and last was the dessert cart.
Time to try for a nap...

Leaving KC

We are at the KC airport ready to start our long full day of travel! We have a 6:45 am flight to Los Angeles and will have about a two hour layover before our flight to Tokyo and then a flight to Bangkok.
All in all, we will land around 10:30 Monday morning, Kansas time, which is 10:30pm Bangkok time, 12 hours difference.
